European leaders could hardly stand on principle regarding Maduro, having shown their total disregard for international law in the Euroclear heist debacle. Agreed BRICS is strengthened by this and in particular Russia (taking Donbass) and China (preparing to take Taiwan). Europe´s decline into irrelevance continues unabaited.

Who, exactly, do the European and UK leaders think would replace Putin? Do they really think illegally removing a man who has consistently tried to join their club would result in some Utopian democratic hero taking the helm? Are they really that stupid?

Also, who do they think would be inside these boots they want to put on the Ukrainian ground? A few thousand career soldiers and then what?

Also, anyone taking bets yet on whether Trump will go gently into that good night at the end of his term?

Until the beginning of navigation and colonization, Europe was in a situation where it was a peninsula, attached to Asia, where poor and diverse peoples periodically killed each other in constant wars. Sometimes there was widespread famine and disease. In addition, there was the fear of invasions.

After 500 years of glory and domination, perhaps it is good for Europeans to worry about their future. Seriously.

Tiptoe around the caldera. The caldera being the US and CIA's use of the 'war on drugs' to rinse narcotics for black-op slush funds - Colonel North, anyone; to wage a war against deindustrialised cities, creating an endless fresh cohort for privatised prisons; to weaponise outrage and use it in phoney narco-terrorist narratives. Remember, we are talking about the most loathsome carousel of all, the deep state shadow governments that use public monies for private gain, hence the 40 trillion dollar debt. Wholesale larceny; meanwhile, Rome burns. If WMD's won't do it anymore then it's time to rouse the weeping crocodile from the Beltway swamp and cry those tears for America's drug addled youth. And how they cry. All phoney, of course. A compliant media trots it all out. And everyone pretends we haven't seen this all before. We have. Remember Nancy in the Oval Office, all bug-eyed and cocaine-slim, telling America to 'just say no'. And in the background thé CIA drug running. A great article Ian - but never give an inch to these bastards because they will take the world.

Is the word ‘authoritarian’ anything more than an Empire narrative tool? If Maduro is an ‘authoritarian’ leader, what is Trump, whose Gestapo goons just shot an unarmed mother of 3 kids, in the face, for refusing an order to stop her vehicle?
