actually, the USA financed both world wars in the good tradition of an empire: weaken your opponents. That was not necessarily the plan, the plan was to make good old money (and it did: JP Morgan, Standard Oil, the new empire), but the outcome was a colonialized Europe. Russians should perhaps recall that over 50% of Ukraine desired to be allied to Russia, barely 25% of them even wanted to join NATO, and yet coming up to 2m of them are now bleached bones, living (or not) in a totalitarian Western-controlled corrupt Nazi regime.
What makes them think the domestic Western populations are treated any better by the same people doing this to Ukraine?
Obviously, Western societies are now ruled by utter psychopaths (If they weren't always, looking at the past 400 years).
Naturally Russians are disgusted by the Western corporate media. So are most westerners, it's been 100+ years since mass media was held in such universal contempt.
Unfortunately, our votes are immaterial, and can't change the course we are on. So it's wise for general Russian society to be so wary and angry.
All we can do is hope this rational hatred doesn't spill over into conflict without rules (such as Geneva C.), as has already happened in Ukr once the Russian POWs were tortured to death, and Western/Ukr media gloated about it. Along with all the other crimes against humanity atrocities.
