It's actually worse than that, Ian.

The €90bn bond issue in order to back the loan is also illegal under EU law.

It is illegal under EU law to use EU-bonds to fund a non-EU country.

They have somehow negotiated their own legal obstacle by agreeing that if Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic DO NOT veto the bond issue, then those three countries won't have to cough up for the proportion of the bond issue that would otherwise be charged to them.

A bribe. It's a bribe. Tell me it's not a bribe.

The European Commission has bribed three of its member states to NOT vote, so that the European Commission can break EU law by funding a non-EU country, Ukraine.

That's how corrupt these people are.

Imagine if people were paid NOT to vote in a governmental election in a member state. The election would be declared null and void in an instant. And yet the European Commission can get away with effectively paying member states NOT to vote. It beggars belief.

Would stealing the Russian assets currently held at Euroclear have made ANY difference to the outcome of this conflict? No. Fact is that when both, the ground war AND the all-out sanctions war (20th package, smile) not only failed, but backfired on the EU and the US, this game was over. Some players just do not know it, yet. My hope is that there will be PERSONAL consequences against the likes of Scholz, Baerbock, Merz, Starmer, Sunak, vdLeyen, Kallas, Pistorius, Rutte, the British clown with the bad hair whose name I can't remember plus the rest of the psychotic warmongering creeps that are responsible for all the human suffering.
