Ian: For the avoidance of confusion, it is actually the loser in a war, that gets to pay the reparations. Not the winner. I should imagine though, that Russia is delighted that the EU has stolen its sovereign funds. The break-up of the EU would probably rank high as one of Russia’s foreign policy objectives, and that institution destroying its own credit rating and financial reputation, must surely hasten that day. On a separate point: Ukraine has not ‘given up’ on its attempt to join NATO. Zelensky has merely said that he recognises that it cannot join for the time being. Zelensky has said that many times previously, and it is as meaningless as almost everything else he says. It should be noted that Z is not legally and constitutionally the president, and that joining NATO is enshrined in said constitution.

Why would anyone anywhere willingly put any money or assets of any kind into a European bank now? If I were a multi-billionaire from anywhere or the financial bod of any government I would be withdrawing all my assets from Europe. Frankly, if I was a wealthy EU citizen or an EU business I would be looking at withdrawing because the EU is not a trustworthy organisation is it?
