Ban this, ban that. Western fascism in full swing. Bookburners. If Brooks can't make an academic argument that trumps other people's arguments, he should get a proper job.

"reports"

Western government-controlled media has been lying to us about Ukraine since at least 2014. The last truthful report I saw from Ukraine was that Maidan rioters had stoved in the skull of a member of the Yanukovich security forces with a concrete block. A brutal murder. But then the justifications start, you know the sort of thing: "Well, it was his fault for working for Russia blah blah", as if that alone means stoving a man's head in with a concrete block is acceptable.

"[] if we are committed to peace in Ukraine"

A-ha! We're not, so that's the end of that line of argument. All that 'we'(st) seem committed to doing is destroying Russia, no matter who else gets destroyed in the process. Ukraine. Europe. There is no identifiable 'we'. The Americans couldn't give a damn if Europe is destroyed while destroying Russia, in fact there are indications that this is actually their goal.

Economic sanctions are inherently illegal without cover from a body like the security council. Russia's 'special military operation' actually has more backing by the United Nations legal framework than the west's unilateral sanctions on Russia with no global majority support.

The United States' House of Representatives are so far down the illegal sanctions rabbithole they're even going after the International Criminal Court. I hope it's reciprocated. It should be.

People like Brooks live in their own little worlds where they seem to think they can try to destroy the world's biggest nuclear power and there will be no consequences for the United States. Just ignore Putin talking about existential threats. Russia will just throw the towel in and say "Oh, that dastardly Brooks, he outsmarted us. Well, that's the end of Russia. Hey ho."

"This latest round may has a significant impact on Russia’s ability to generate much-needed export income with reports that Indian and Chinese ports are not allowing Russian tankers to dock"

If China and India are joining sanctions on Russia then that's the end of BRICS.
