I don't subscribe to the proposition that the Russians are my enemies but if you're a Christian who thinks they are and you're celebrating Easter, you're celebrating the resurrection of the man who said to love your enemies and pray for them.
So don't ask me to pray only for the Ukrainian people, either.
Jesus died for the Ukrainian and the Russian, for the Jew and the Gentile. We are brothers in Christ if we receive Him in our hearts. In 2022 I visited a church in Normandy where the Ukrainian flag had pride of place on the altar. I had the same reaction as you Ian. I went back to the same church a year later, and the Ukrainian flag had been moved to one side and the Russian flag placed on the other side. So I thought why not just remove them both and pray for peace?
I want to thank you for your writings! I read with interest and a satisfaction that there are some sane people left in Europe who want to help stopping the warmongering. It gives me hope and a help with arguments when I discuss with my friends and others. Being in Sweden, the news is a one-sighted propaganda for the war in Ukraine and a fanatic support to the Zelensky- adm. Our government is also following the EU-leadership with no other reflections but those which come from Von der Leyen and co. Tragic and sad. I am a retired nurse in Sweden and also share your christians values. All the best to you Ian Proud!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts in these difficult times, and I pray that when Easter comes around next year, our world will be a more peaceful one.
I agree with everything you have written, although I have to say I didn’t know about the Baptists’ Ribena thing.
It is a shocking state of affairs that the church has become a mouthpiece for the regime. I don’t think it has been this bad since WW1, so more than a hundred years.
Amen. Thank you for this.
So very well expressed. May all those in power read and reflect....
Thank you Ian. Christ died for all of us not just one exalted people or one irreplaceable empire.
Just like the previous commenter, I'm also saying --- Amen. Thank you for this.
Amen, brother
Christ is risen 🙏
He’s risen, indeed.
Hear him, hear him!

Everyone of us needs salvation.
Indeed we do.
Sorry, I meant to add thank you for your OP. God bless you, sir.
God bless you, too.

I pray to my higher power every day, the creator. Problem is, the ones in control pray to and work for their higher power, satan the destroyer.
