Good information without all the Putinish cant that usually accompanies articles disparaging Ukraine. 1. Presuming the commentary on casualties is generally accurate, western media should be very ashamed of themselves. 2. It's clear that far-right Ukrainians have been able to leverage the war for increased viability, but it's not clear how much inroads they've made with the general Ukrainian population nor how extensive and intensive is their Ukrainian nationalism. (I tend to think most regard Israel as an ally.) 3. About language, after Maidan there were numerous restrictions and limitations placed on the Russian language, but I had thought most or all of those had been removed or watered down by about 2019. In any event, language policy in another country is not a casus belli and the Russian invasion has done more to ghettoize the Russian language in Ukraine than any Ukrainian policy ever could. 4. Finally, I'm fine with the 2024 Ukraine elections being canceled.
