Like everything cultural that we watched as kids, cartoons, coronation Street, the news even, these forms of entertainment have morphed into giant industries that blatantly promote absurdist agendas more and more. Eurovision is but one example, now a 3 night marathon that I suspect very few watch, especially the younger generation, a contest so tightly controlled by our masters that here in Ireland the song which goes on to represent the country is voted on by government appointees. This happened after the Irish voted for a puppet turkey a few years back which pretty much tells you how the public here feel about this once great bit of television entertainment.

Everything runs its course and unfortunately the Eurovision is destined for the bin, as will be the fate of most of what appears on TV channels these days.

I would have voted for the turkey over Barbie Thug. 😁

This contest is a target-rich environment for ridicule. The exhibition has become the EU's proxy for democracy while it has eliminated real democracy in election after election. Tolerance has taken on the role of liberal enlightenment while real democracy has become fascism. Fragile elites congratulate themselves on their deeply flawed self-righteousness. Their populations suffer under the yoke of leaders who fancy themselves the heirs of a grand royal tradition of noblesse oblige as unicorns and fairies prance and pose across their grand stage.

We need to change language as woke meant to be aware of social injustices but is now overused for and against any issues. I've even heard it mentioned in reference to Ukraine conflict. Western govt attitudes are not woke in their treatment of citizens domestic and foreign. There's much better words to use.

Thank you. I find it very confusing - and irritating.

Speaking for myself - of course - I also have a concern about the use of the term 'communist' to describe neo-cons and fascists. So many people are just not broadly educated - so terms just lose their meaning. Impossible to have a logical conversation at times - well, many times.

Absolutely agree with Ian. It's become a mouthpiece for woke and cancel culture

The Eurovision is all about agendas and I can't bear to watch it anymore. I used to watch it because it was so hilariously bad. Now it just makes me vomit. Israel should not be included for many reasons, it all just makes me sick to my stomach.

When the globalist/communists were on the attack but not yet dominant they spread their propaganda that culture and sport were inherently inclusive and nonpolitical because they wanted all their allies and fellow travellers included, allowed to spread their evil without restriction or resistance.

Now they think they are in the position of power, they think they're the deciders, they want to ban the same people and ideas who let them in.

"When I am weak I speak peace because that is according to your principles, but now I am strong I make war because that is according to my principles."

These snakes are all the same.

"globalist/communists"? Whatever are you talking about? If there actually were 'globalist communists' I would be ecstatic, but there is no such thing. In any case, it is a tautology, as Communism is in theory a global aspiration. However, this aspiration died with the USSR, and was not actually, seriously, put into practice by the Soviets. You are probably confused by US terminology, where dyed-in-the-wool Liberal Capitalists are routinely described as 'leftists'. They are not - they are Liberals. Liberalism is totally opposed both in principle and in reality, to Socialism and Communism, and vice versa. You seem to have a somewhat basic mis-understanding of these foundational political terms.

Well, some of us remember the people killed by communists and were not ecstatic about it.

You do you.

Totally irrelevant to my comment. In any case, most of us remember all the people killed by US invasions, bombings, subversions etc. since 1945 - I don't suppose I need to list them all for you. Did you imagine that you would be immune? Blowback is Karma.

Yes, you are confused.

It's not necessary to forget one in order to remember the other.

Not for most people, anyway.

Well, I never said that that was the case. However, this conversation has little or nothing to do with the original article by Mr Proud, so I will not continue with it
