The US wants to use Taiwan like it has Ukraine. As a proxy battering ram to the last Taiwanese to weaken China and then steal its resources and semiconductors as payment for the privilege of being totally screwed over.
Hiya Ian, China emboldened over Taiwan? Taiwan is part of One China, even according to the US. Independence from China has been systematically funded and encouraged in Taiwan by guess who...? You go it, US backed NGOs and propaganda. China and Taiwan are mutually important trading partners, China is not going to attack itself. The US military presence in the South China sea is irritating to Xi and he'll defend himself if attacked, but he's not stupid enough to make a 'bold' move when there's absolutely no reason to.
Hiya Ian, I wasn't suggesting that you were unaware, I just wanted to clarify as the propaganda around Russia and China being 'enemies' intensifies in the EU and UK.
I noted the verbal attack on Zelensky from Trump and Vance 'The Gruesome twosome'. It was like two big dogs mauling a chicken. I did not agree with the 'Regime Change Coup in 22014. It was a repeat of the last seven Western conspired regime changes to say nothing of the numerous other similar ventures in Africa and South America where the sniff of an Indigenous socialist minded leader leads to bloodshed, devastation and starvation. The Colonialist Neocons are intent on continuing their iron grip on the rest of humanity. The two playground bullies seemed to revel in ridiculing Zelensky. The ignorant pair took advantage of the fact that Zelenski was not an experienced politician and were further backed by a braindead pillock amidst the baying crowd who asked the Ukranian Leader why he was not wearing a suit. No matter what your views are you have to respect the fact that his position is tenuous,, he is brave and was alone in what turned out to be a lions den. The West hoped that they could cripple the Russian economy and depose Putin. The opposite has happened and the Western economies are in bad shape as well as the future of some of it's leaders. We need to stand our ground and await the advent of BRICS along with a newly formed type of UN where blackmail and sanctions are outlawed and International Laws are upheld by all. Membership should be denied to all those complicit in war crimes whether MPs or Media Presenters they should be permanently barred from holding office.
You make some good points. I don’t agree on Zelensky in the Whitehouse. He came to deliver his standard script, dressed inappropriately, playing the role he has acted out for three years, and was singularly not interested in Trump and Vance putting forward a counter-narrative. Other western leaders haven’t don’t that before, after all. Zelensky has always been centre of attention. Sure, Vance may have over-egged it, but I sense that Trump’s reaction was pure anger and the impudence and ill-grace of the leader of a country with an economy the size of Arkansas.
Ian. You speak us fighting ( or not) Russia over Georgia . I thought Georgia started it and Russian just defended itself and there is a EU report confirming this ?
Kevin, I spoke about us not fighting Georgia. The issue of their NATO membership was at stake although, of course, you are right up to a point, the trigger was separatist tension in South Ossetia and Abkhazia. But the point was that Saakashvili had pushed the NATO agenda and, when his domestic policy backfired and led to a war with Russia, the western alliance didn’t come to help.
I entirely approve of peacemongering, and have begun circulating your letter to friends. BUT some of your imagery is not going to produce a helpful response among your women readers. 'Our self-righteousness rejection peace is merely a figleaf covering the deflated genitals of our defeat.' It just doesn't work. And there must be a misprint in the sentence , anyway. So in your excellent mission consider the prose and its effect. Karen Hewitt
Are you in contact with Dom Cummings? You might not wish to say. But I hope that you are. Like you he supports fresh new approaches but he is a generalist who lacks your deep expertise in this area - but would greatly appreciate it.
You are correct, of course. However, I refer specifically to the Bucharest Summit of 2008 that resurfaced the idea of letting both Ukraine and Georgia join NATO. A short period after, Georgia was at war with Russia. Since then, the west has kept pushing the agenda for Ukraine, with the results we see today.
The US wants to use Taiwan like it has Ukraine. As a proxy battering ram to the last Taiwanese to weaken China and then steal its resources and semiconductors as payment for the privilege of being totally screwed over.
Why reinvent the wheel?
Said wheel poorly understood by the operators.
Trillion dollar wheel of death.

Hi Jo,
Yes, I do know this and broadly share you sentiments.
Ian
Hiya Ian, I wasn't suggesting that you were unaware, I just wanted to clarify as the propaganda around Russia and China being 'enemies' intensifies in the EU and UK.
Ian - it is rumoured there are biolabs in Taiwan as well as Ukraine.

Not missing the reference to Arkansas, lol!
Zelensky is self serving mentioned in Pandora Papers.
Ian - unsure of you caught this but the US has a new Ambassador in Russia. Surely this is a positive step.

Notwithstanding Friday's drama, I am most interested what was discussed between Russia's Lavrov, the Saudis and the Americans in Riyadh.
Cheers, anyone who isn’t tainted with the Biden regime must be an improvement, but that doesn’t necessarily make them good. :-)

“I spoke about us not fighting ( for ) Georgia “🤔
Did Russia invade Georgia or did Georgia invade ossetia and Abkhazia killing Russian peacekeepers provoking a response . Asking for a friend 🤨

Dear Karen,
That's a fair challenge, thank you. I have amended the relevant piece of text.
Best wishes,
Ian

Thanks, and no. Do you have his contact details?
I will get them to you.
He has a Substack by that name 👍

Nothing to do but wait for Russia to bring closure. Could they hurry it up, please?
Thank you for the essay. I think the NATO redline goes back further to 1993. Clinton/ Yeltsin?
